How to Download Youtube Video
There are two ways you can download a video from YouTube.com and watch it from your PC or laptop (instead of watching it online).
First, Convert online.
(a) Go to Downloadyoutubevideos.com or Keepvid.com. Enter the Youtube URL link, and click "Get Started".
(b) Visit http://www.savevideodownload.com/download.php Enter the youtube URL link into the box. Click the "Get Links." It will be downloaded in .flv format - use VLC or another compatible player to view it.
Second, Convert offline. For this you need a software. Download it here (free trial).
Here's the Editor's review:
This simple freeware application works pretty well, given how basic the interface is. It has two main features: to download FLV files from YouTube, and to convert them to most major formats. If there's a YouTube URL in your clipboard, it will automatically paste it for you when you click on the dialog box. From there, just hit OK and the downloading will commence. One more left-click is all it takes to load the file in the converter, which supports iPhone, iPod, PSP, cell phone, AVI, MP3, WMV, and Xvid. Surprisingly, there's also a basic video editor for cropping videos by time stamp. You can also cut out the sound when converting.
This is one of the lightest editors around, but the simplistic interface belies its functionality and it performs exactly as advertised. We'd like to see support in future editions for hunting down missing codecs, and version 2.1.5 and earlier won't work because of embed code changes on YouTube itself. Still, the YouTube Downloader is proof that not only is video-making accessible to everyone, so is video downloading and editing.
Wordpress Tags and Category Codes
Since Wordpress 2.6 and 2.7, wordpress has automatically put tags by default (besides category which has been there since the very beginning). But not every wordpress themes / templates has tags readily installed. If your beloved wordpress themes has not included the tags codes yet, here's the simple way to install the tags codes. Oh btw, it's for self-hosted wordpress only:
1. After login, click Appearance -> Editor -> Single.php (for Wp 2.7)
2. Copy and paste this code above or below post code (in line with "Category" or above "Comments":
<p><?php the_tags(); ?></p>
3. Save the change. Done.
Notes: If you like, you may change the "Category" position as well.
Find this code in single.php:
<p><?php the_category(', ') ?></p>
Cut and paste wherever you want it to be. Remember to Save the change.
About WP Super Cache Plugins
Name of Plugins: WP Super Cache
Compatibility: Wordpress 2.7 and below
Author: Donncha O Caoimh
Download: Download the plugins here for free (zip file)
How to install: See installation guide here for details.
This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts.
However, because a user's details are displayed in the comment form after they leave a comment, the plugin will only serve static html files to:
1. Users who are not logged in.
2. Users who have not left a comment on your blog.
3. Or users who have not viewed a password protected post.
Google Ad Manager Tutorial won't be as busy as before. This plugin should help your server cope with a front page appearance on digg.com or other social networking site.
Google Ad Manager Tutorial
Rusty Brick writes a good step-by-step tutorial on Google Ad Manager which is suitable for anyone who struggles to figure out the new ads model.
As Google Ad Manager is no longer beta now, everybody who has gmail account can try it out. For those who are still confused about this Google Ad Manager here's an explanation from the official Google blog:
Google Ad Manager is a free, hosted ad and inventory management tool that can help publishers sell, schedule, deliver and measure their directly-sold and network-based ad inventory. It offers an intuitive and simple user experience with Google speed and a tagging process so publishers can spend more time working with their advertisers and less time on their ad management solution. And by providing detailed inventory forecasts and tracking at a very granular level, Ad Manager helps publishers maximize their inventory sell-through rates.
Google Ad Manager effectively complements the DoubleClick Revenue Center, which is focused on publishers with larger sales teams. We're excited to add DART for Publishers to our suite of products, and we're committed to the continued development and enhancement of DoubleClick's offerings. Today's announcement demonstrates this promise, and at the same time furthers our goal of creating new opportunities for publishers of all sizes. Dozens of publishers have been using Google Ad Manager successfully in early trials.
